Tomorrow is Mother's Day in the Netherlands. Mothe Tomorrow is Mother's Day in the Netherlands. Mother's Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family or individual, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on different days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May and it complements similar celebrations. Although my mother passed away ten years ago she still has (some) influence on me. More in the sense of: what would my mother think of this or how would she have done or said that? One thing is certain: the bond between the mother and her children is a strong one, also of course, because a mother has carried her child with her for nine months. The stick with the hearts that Merlin is holding here symbolizes that: a big mother's heart that binds the hearts of her children to herself. And with that in mind, this applies exactly to Merlin's mother: a strong woman with her heart in the right place. I wish you all a beautiful Mother's Day, whether you celebrate it or not. I'm very proud to tell that I've received the Voic I'm very proud to tell that I've received the Voices of Tomorrow Art Award 2022 by Contemporary Art Curator Magazine. Last month I got the invitation for this award: "We are excited to award you the prestigious Voices of Tomorrow Art Award! The Award provides a fascinating glimpse into the aesthetic vision of some of the world's most talented and creative artists. Awarded to emerging, dynamic, and gifted visual artists, the Award recognizes the best of today's contemporary artists. The Voices of Tomorrow Art Award investigates the 'heritage of the future,' challenging the possibilities of tomorrow. Winning the Award is a high-quality standard and offers an artist great recognition! An independent, international jury chooses the recipient of the Voices of Tomorrow Art Award made up of art world experts: owners of galleries, curators, art collectors and art fairs consultants. The selection committee is a team of experts who remain anonymous to preserve their independence. Unfortunately, due to the current situation with COVID, we cannot hold the Art Prize ceremony and will be presented online." I needed to submit photos of my work and after contacting (the parents of) the models, they gave me the permission to use a photo of them. From the bottom of my heart I am very grateful that I was allowed to use a photo from one of our shoots! It means a lot to me! Today I received the certificate and May 9th all winners of this award will be officially announced. Starting from May 10, 2022, Contemporary Art Curator Magazine will begin to promote artists on their social media. The magazine is one of the top online contemporary art magazines (750,000 unique monthly visitors) with thousands of followers worldwide (411K on Insta, 13K on Facebook): art collectors, magazine editors, curators, gallery owners, art dealers.
